The Hon. Judge R. David Proctor of the Northern District of Alabama visited Miami last week, where he guest lectured the University of Miami School of Law and met with leaders of the Miami Law Class Action & Complex Litigation Forum, including Firm Founder and Managing Partner Adam Moskowitz.
Event organizers, students, and faculty (including Law Professors Sergio Campos and our very own Adam Moskowitz) were honored to host Judge Proctor at the University of Miami School of Law, where he guest lectured at Professor Campo’s Civil Procedure Class and Professor Moskowitz’s Class Action Seminar.
Judge Proctor’s visit was very well-received by students in particular, many of whom expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be taught by the U.S. District Court Judge. In fact, the positive feedback from both students and leadership alike has prompted discussions of the Judge teaching a short course at the University of Miami School of Law starting sometime next year.
Proctor has been a highly respected federal judge in the Northern District of Alabama for the past 15 years, handling some of the largest class actions in the country. He currently serves on the Panel for Multi District Litigation that has discretion over consolidation of the largest and most important class actions cases, as well as assigning them to various judges around the country.
For the Firm, it was a privilege to host Judge Proctor--not only so he could impart his impressive legal knowledge, but also enjoy some of our favorite parts of Miami and meet with talented colleagues like Aaron Podhurst and Peter Prieto.
Towards the end of his visit, Judge Proctor was invited by the Firm’s Partners to attend the University of Miami Football game on Saturday, where a great time was had by all--especially thanks to a 28-27 UM victory over FSU.
